Bio
Adam Johnson is a Grammy-nominated audio engineer, producer, and production sound mixer with more than 20 years of experience across music, film, television, documentary, commercial, broadcast, and branded media. Raised in a musical household, he began working in audio at an early age and has built a career spanning classical recording, production sound, location recording, broadcast engineering, sound design, post-production editorial, and re-recording mixing.
Adam has held audio positions with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and the Aspen Music Festival and School, in addition to extensive freelance and studio work. As owner and head engineer of Sound Lab Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, he provides production and post-production audio for music productions, feature films, commercials, documentaries, branded content, and television series.
His work includes contributions to Grammy- and Emmy Award-winning projects, along with projects associated with Netflix, Apple, Disney, HBO, PBS, Fox, and other major platforms. Adam combines a deep music background with technical fluency and a production-to-post perspective, helping projects move from capture through final delivery with clarity, craft, and attention to story.
Adam’s background includes a B.S. in Information Technology and advanced study in music production, along with membership in IATSE, the Audio Engineering Society, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, and the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
