Adam Johnson is a Grammy nominated audio engineer and producer in the music, film and tv industries. Raised in a musical household, he began working in audio from an early age. His 20+ year career has now encompassed a wide range of experience, including classical recording, broadcast engineering, production sound mixing, sound design, post sound editorial and re-recording.
Adam has held positions with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Banff Center for Performing Arts, the Aspen Music Festival and School, and as a freelance engineer. Currently, Adam is the owner and head engineer at Sound Lab Studios based in Asheville, North Carolina, where he brings his classical training and education to music productions, feature films, commercials, documentaries, and TV series. He regularly collaborates on projects with companies such as Netflix, Apple, and Disney, and has worked with some of the most iconic personalities of our time, from Yo-Yo Ma to Maya Angelou.
Adam holds degrees in music production as well as information technology. He is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), and the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE).
When not in the studio or working on-location, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kasey, and two children, Audrey and Spencer.
